Amphetamines and amphetamine type stimulants

Amphetamines and amphetamine type stimulants (ATS) come in different forms, shapes or colors. They are used in different ways such as swallowing, smoking, snorting or injecting using a needle. Stimulants have been abused as an "academic performance enhancement" (such as to stay up all night cramming for an exam). However, studies have found that stimulants do not increase learning or thinking ability when taken by people who have not been diagnosed with ADHD. Some use ATS to keep them alert, work harder and longer and to eat and sleep less.
