The first factor is the circle of family and friends. Depending on our own circles, the kinds of friends we choose can be different. Some choose friends who do well in schoolwork or who are good at sports while others choose to make friends with the ones who are lazing arond, who are drug users or alcoholics.  Secondly, interests and personality are also important factors. Other factors influencing choosing a friend includes openness, mutual understanding, respect each other’s needs and having the same beliefs and goals, etc. Close friends can talk to each other openly so that they understand each other’s strengths, weaknesses and needs and can share everything. That kind of open relationship can help avoid loneliness. The friendship becomes stronger based on the understanding and trust built up over time.
