Biological Changes in a man

Body Build

Puberty begins and body changes; growth spurts occur

Penis & testes

As a boy goes through puberty his penis will grow bigger and longer, and his testicles move lower down his scrotum.  Sometimes one testicle grows faster than the other, and it is natural for one to hang lower than the other. (Don’t freak out!)

There isn't a normal size for any particular age. Erections can happen when you're turned on (sexually excited), and at other times, too.

You can experience nocturnal emissions (“wet dreams”) Testes mature and produce sperm.

What is a Wet Dream?

A wet dream happens when a boy becomes sexually aroused while he is asleep and releases semen - (the sticky liquid that sperm is part of - is released through his penis).  Wet dreams are not something to be embarrassed about; they are natural and happen to lots of boys.(You are not alone and it certainly doesn’t mean that you have been bad)

Acne develops

Acne can appear - on your face, back, anywhere! - for many reasons. Especially during puberty, your skin produces more oil - and combined with bacteria and dirt, your pores get clogged and the result is acne. Other people have a family history of acne - whether you get it or not sometimes is genetic.

Here are some tips for preventing and getting rid of acne:

Keep your face clean. Wash your face daily, gently, with warm water.
Don’t pick or pop your pimples, no matter how much you want to! (even though it can be soooo irresistible) Picking and popping can lead to scarring and more pimples.

Ask a doctor or nurse - there are drugs that can provide relief for some acne.
