Female Condom

  • Worn in the woman’s vagina.
  • Prevents sperm from reaching the uterus.
  • Made with polyurethane.

 

It’s stronger than latex condoms.

Advantages:

  1. Offer extra STI protection
  2. Can be inserted up to 8 hours before intercourse

 

 

 

Disadvantages:

  1. Effectiveness against pregnancy – failure rate 21 unintended

pregnancies per 100 women in first  year of typical use

  1. Some women do not feel comfortable with this method
  2. It can be expensive
  3. It cannot be available everywhere
